Dead male ram

I came home from work to find my male ram floating on the top; he was feeding fine this morning and had brilliant colours.
My female was fine this morning but now she has very subdued colours, is this from the stress of loosing her boyfriend or could she be ill too?
There was no obvious signs, I have had the pair for about 3 months and have recently been showing very bright colourings and breeding behavior.

Any advice would be great.

3 angels 1 bala 2 plecs all going back to my lfs because there gettin too big, a few platies and a few danios and small tetras.
its a 20 uk gallon tank. its been disease free for ages.

bala shark could be the culprit

he's only small and hasnt shown any aggression towards any of my fish,

my female is still off colour but is feeding well, have done a small water change each day since the death.

my lfs has german blues in atm so i'll be gettin her a new boyfriend on friday if my tank is ok.
