Could the other fish haven been picking on him ? Was he weak ? The "brains popping out" might just because they started to pick (eat) at him when he died.
Are your other fish OK ? Have you tested your water ?

I dont have a water testing kit, ive never seen the other fry picking at him and there are no adult fish in the tank -_-

Without anything else to go by, I would think he might have been weakened and died. They other fry then started picking on him (once dead) hence the brains out.
That's my guess anyway. I take it you have removed him. I suggest a water change and monitor the rest of the fry closely.

here are the rest of the fry -

How would i be able to tell if anything is wrong with the rest of them? They are so small

Could it have anything to do with the lighting? I have a neon lighting it at the moment while we wait for a small white light for the tank this is whats in there atm -

I really doubt that it’s the light in itself that caused it.
Just check the fry for any irregularities – such as they way they swim and eat. When feeding them, check carefully to see if they are all eating and if possible (I know it might be hard) check for any discolouration or spots etc.
I would not just medicate for the sake of it – unless you know what you are treating. You are more likely to kill than cure.

You realy, realy need to test your water for nitrates, nitrites and ammonia asap- this is vital stuff to know in a livebearer fry tank or even any fry tank as fry are much more sensitive to these things in comparison to the adult fish. Flicking and rubbing on objects most likely denote they are in some discomfort in the water- i would do a water change as this will most likely help their situation even if the water is bad, if there are parasites in the water this will help lower the levels temporarily.
Do not use any meds or aquarium salt until you know your water stats as water quality issues are the main cause of fry deaths and adding unesarsary meds will stress the fry out alot so only use them when you know you real have to for sure.

I agree with Tokis. Every fishkeeper should own at least an Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate test kit IMO.

Personally I would perform lots of large water changes i.e. 40% a couple or three times daily (de-chlorinated and warmed to tank temp.) It appears from your photos that the fish are at the surface. Are they gasping? If so it may be Ammonia poisoning or lack of oxygen caused by overheated water. Is your heater working properly?

Good luck (perhaps you could get some test kits for your birthday!)

dunno but to me it looks like its eyes have popped up.

It looks like a livebearer fry to me but it doesn't realy matter that much as the majority of fry have the same things in common when it comes to water quality- may i ask what temp your tank is set at?
