Right. I added one lonely rosy red shrimp into my tank last night from my triops tank and he was doing great with no problems, untill the morning when i couldnt see him. I didnt have time for a good look, but sure enough when i got back he was dead with cloudy eyes, really ragged fins and a bitemark out of him-although i think the bitemark was after he died.
I fished him out and noticed that one of my amano shrimp was upside down in the thick plants not moving. I thought he was dead, and i was easily able to reach in and pick him/her out. On closer inspection the shrimps actually still alive, i can see mouthparts moving and a twich of the legs every now and then. I've put him/her in a small 0.5 gallon(i think) plastic tank with no filter or anything and a couple of plants. I put 50% tank water and 50% boiled water with stress coat in in that was already in there(i was going to try hatch out more triops). The shrimp seems to have white stuff inside it, i'll take a picture in a minute.
The other amano shimp in there is 100% fine with no problems.
I had been treating the tank with melafix for six days before for an infected heater burn(im glad i finally know what those are now, i really need to get a heater guard) on my feather fin syno, but just did a 25% water change prior to adding the shrimp and fish.
I cant get any water stats, but i can tell you that other than a few cases of infected heater burns the tanks been up and running in its current set up for 8-10 months without any problems.
Anyone know what i can do to help this shrimp or what caused it?
