Right. I added one lonely rosy red shrimp into my tank last night from my triops tank and he was doing great with no problems, untill the morning when i couldnt see him. I didnt have time for a good look, but sure enough when i got back he was dead with cloudy eyes, really ragged fins and a bitemark out of him-although i think the bitemark was after he died.
I fished him out and noticed that one of my amano shrimp was upside down in the thick plants not moving. I thought he was dead, and i was easily able to reach in and pick him/her out. On closer inspection the shrimps actually still alive, i can see mouthparts moving and a twich of the legs every now and then. I've put him/her in a small 0.5 gallon(i think) plastic tank with no filter or anything and a couple of plants. I put 50% tank water and 50% boiled water with stress coat in in that was already in there(i was going to try hatch out more triops). The shrimp seems to have white stuff inside it, i'll take a picture in a minute.

The other amano shimp in there is 100% fine with no problems.
I had been treating the tank with melafix for six days before for an infected heater burn(im glad i finally know what those are now, i really need to get a heater guard) on my feather fin syno, but just did a 25% water change prior to adding the shrimp and fish.

I cant get any water stats, but i can tell you that other than a few cases of infected heater burns the tanks been up and running in its current set up for 8-10 months without any problems.

Anyone know what i can do to help this shrimp or what caused it? -_- :(

shrimps are fragile and would be the first to show signs or die in the tank....you should be checking your water with test kits...were you aerating the water when treating .i dont know anything about the medicine, does it contain copper?

Melafix is "all natural" and contains melaleuca wich is a tree but thats all its says on the packet, no ingredients.
I wouldn't think an all natural medicine would contain copper, right? :/

The tank has a fluval three(meant for a bigger tank), and undergravel filter powered by a rena air 400 and and another smaller sponge filter(from the tank the shrimp originally came from). I was planning on removing the sponge filter in about a month to use for something else.

I dont have a test kit at the moment, and never had-but im going to get a big one in a couple of weeks. Usually i just take water down to the lfs if i happen to be going down there, but i've not had that tested in months. My tank is 5 inches over stocked at the moment, but is well established with no problems and is over filtered. Im planning on getting a bigger tank soon though, hopefully before i have to rehome fish  .

Yeah, thats the only thing i know that could be wrong too, but one of the shrimp is perfectly fine as are the rest of the fish  :S .
Maybe there was something drastically different with the water in between the two tanks(possibly ph, the main tank has two pieces of wood in it) and the change made the minnow ill who was then bitten by the syno so the minnow died.
As for the shrimp, i think he may have some kind of infection, the photo doesn't really show it but that white stuff is quite notable and the other healthy shrimp doesn't have it :S .

I just dont understand. Tnaks for trying though :) .

I dont think they are eggs, but i've never seen a shrimp with eggs.
He's still lying on his side, only movings his legs every ow and then :( .

The shrimps gone now :-( . Other one is doing fine though, so thats at least something.

Just a thought...... it could have died of not being able to molt it's skeleton properly perhaps due to changes in water conditions. It looks like it was due for a molt very soon. You can just about see the "crack" around the neck area (this is where it opens up and emerges from the skin skeleton. The white stuff could be it's legs half-way through pulling away from the old skin..... not sure.... -_- -_- -_- -_-
