one of my fish has got pop eye disease quite badly and i was wondering what the best UK treatment is for it?
also one of my fish looked ill yesterday morning. it had a very swollen belly and was gulping at the surface. i thought it'd eaten too much because it's quite greedy and thought it'd be fine. so i left it and when i went to check on it a few hours later it was dead.
does anyone know what could've caused it?
it was my favourite fishy and i'm really upset and i don't want any of my others to get it either :(
please help.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Gulping for air can be bad water quality so need to rule it out.
For popeye in the uk anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

Sorry you sent a pm.
Water stats are fine.
Dropsy and popeye are closely related due to the build up of fluids.
Once scales stick out it organ failure and the fish won't recover.
I would add the anti internal bacteria med by interpet to the tank.

his scales weren't sticking out though.
he was a baby.
do you think that's why he died so quick because his body couldn't handle it?
what should i do about the pop eye?

thankyou soo much

Sadly scales dosn't alway have to stick out for organ failure.
What do you feed your fish?
Don't feed bloodworms for a few days, and when you do feed them only a few.
Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers into small peices and add to the tank.

A good variety of frozen foods, daphnia very good for digesting a fish food, and green veg in there diet.
Got to go now cooking dinner, be back soon.

okay thankyou so much!
i feed them flakes.
the aquarium stuff from ADSA and i've got frozen brine shrimp in the freezer which i give them occassionally and i sometimes give them cucumber.
okay me too.
i have an art project in for tomorrow.
thankyou SO much!
