Dead Cory

Woke up this morning to see that 1 of my crabs had completely devoured 1 of my Corys. Gutted isnt the word, he was perfectly happy swimming round last night before I turned the lights off, so I can only imagine the crab was quick enough to grab him and it wasnt that he was ill. So the 2 crabs are now out of the tank, horrible things, my opinion on them has completely changed, destoryed alot of my plants and now this

Not sure what to do with them now, other than take them back to my LFS.

i had given my two up for dead as i hadnt seen them for 2 weeks to find the other morning the remains of one of my danios and the crab carrying the danios head around looking happy with himself i was not impressed

crabs and crayfish/lobsters arent advised to be kept with fish. during the day when fish are active there isnt a problem but as you have found out at night when the fish rest and are static they become easy targets for things with claws....

Try to rehome them or see if a local fish shop will take them on. Always check policy with fish shops, though. I know some chain stores in the US will take fish from customers but have a policy to destroy them rather than put them up for sale.

Whatever you do with them, keep them away from the fish and make sure they have an appropriately heated and clean environment. Don't be tempted just to leave them in a tub or bowl without adequate heating and filtration.

Would setting up a dedicated tank for them not be an option?
