One of my assassin snails doesn't seem to have moved for several days, could it be dead?
I bought it and 1 other assassin around a month ago for my pest snail issue (which is unfortunately still ongoing). The other snail seems to be fine and relatively active.
They have both gone without moving for a few days before (full of snails perhaps?), but not for this long.

Does it sound like it might be dead?

Thanks

When I used to keep them, they would sometimes lie around during the day and move at night. The best way to see if they are alive is to look at their 'trapdoor'. If you can see inside the shell then they are dead, if not then they are just lazy lol.

I'll have a look, thanks :good:

Well, I've had a look and I'm not too sure. I can't see all the way down the shell, there is definitely something there, but there's little to see near the opening (it's just empty). I found a tadpole snail actually inside the shell of my assassin, though I don't know whether it was dead or alive (it wasn't moving or anything but it was a dark colour, whereas any empty shells I find on the substrate are a paler colour).

What do you think?

Thanks

Mine always used to have a creamy flesh door covering the opening to the shell when they were retracted inside. If you can see inside then I would say that it was dead. Any pics?

Someone told me to smell mine recently when My snail looked dead....they smell really, really bad after they die. goodluck
