Dead 11" Senegal

Well.....its a sad day today, got home to find my quarantined Senegal was dead....she had swolen up badly on monday and tonight she was dead

Im thinking Septicemia, but figured id post some pics to see if anyone else had other ideas.

One of my bichirs had the same thing was quite bad and sadly passed away about 2 weeks ago

I'd agree that that looks like sceptacemia. The swelling might suggest kidney failure (like with dropsy). I'm no expert though.

How long had she been in quarentine for and had anything else happened? New fish... filter/heater failure etc etc?

Thats the one, she was a really healthy and active 11" aquatic puppy

would come to meet me when i got in from where ever in the tank she was, straight to the front glass..sigh....

Got home from work on monday and she was rather fat, didnt think much of it as she had been fed the night before and she always looked fat after a feed...that night she looked really fat still thought she has just gorged herself....tuesday Am lethargic and fatter so i quarantined her, tonight when i got home from work she was dead. I tried all the meds i had in the house but i think i needed something like Macaryn.

she will be missed by everyone

I feel your pain, a few weeks ago the Senegal that I have been keeping for about 2 years (she was a good 10" long) was found dead one morning by unknown causes.
