Yes another question, sorry about this, lol.

I need to read the boxes more carefully, i bought a de chlorinator but it also "removes ammonia"

If i use the correct amount when i fill the tank, and add ammonia, will there be a point where this stuff cant "fix" ammonia anymore?

From my knowledge il need 12.5ml of ammonia roughly, does all this mean is that i might have to use ~16-17ml to reach 5ppm instead?

Or is this product entirely backward and need to find a new de chlorinator?

Do you know if it removes ammonia or whether it converts it to ammonium? If its the latter it shouldn't be a problem since ammonium can still be used by the bacteria.

There should be a point where the product can't "fix" the ammonia anymore, but I don't know what that point would be. Do a little test in a bucket of water or something.
Personally when I fishless cycle I prefer to use frill-free dechlorinators so I know exactly what's happening

Hmmm from my knowledge it turns it into ammonium, it says "removes excess ammonia"

I asked for a product that would soften the water, he gave me a dechlorination box, i needed de chlorinator anyway, so i managed to be polite and say "thanks" and actually needed the product, but yes, when it comes to the weekly water changes im certainly going for the no thrills de chlorinators next time.

Its amazing how many "ammo lock" products there are, and its much simpler just to make a decent nitrogen cycle

what brand are we talking about?

Also ive got another question, with de chlorinators do you just pour the required amount in the full tank (when starting out, not water changes) or do you have to add little bits to each bucket?

Because itd be a lot easier to simply add it to the full tank

don't worry about it, what this refers to is as follows

the dechlor removes chlorine and chloramie from the water

chloramine is a bond of chlorine and ammonia, it breaks the bond, removes the chlorine and the ammonia created. it's not gonna get rid of you 5ppm for fishless cycling. added to this it'd onyl remove ammonia when first added to the tank, it's not a continual thing. so you fill your tank, add the dechlor, wait about an hr or so and all the dechlor will be gone from the water along with the chlorine and ammonia, then you can add your 5ppm, you don't water change while fishless cycling so no need to add mroe dechlor

yes that's fine

when you've a big tank you do water changes with a hose pipe not buckets (normally) so you need to just add dechlor straight to the tank then add water. never been a problem for anyone i know, and i know plenty of people who do this
