I have made the plunge and picked up 3 young D Microlepis, they are about 5 cm and have settled in well and are happily eating bloodworms, prawn and earthworm. I was hoping to add something that might help tidy up what they miss and hopefully help with their confidence but am worried that I add something that will out compete them. Any suggestions? Could be something temporary till they grow a bit and move to a larger tank. Or am I better just leaving them on their own?

A few young polypterus maybe? these should have no trouble sniffing out the leftover earthworms and prawns, but won't outcompete the dats in getting to them
