Hi all,

I have a silver (three spot) and a golden gourami.
Although they have always been sensitive to noise and sudden movements, there normally both really confident.
Over the last week they have become very shy and skittish, darting every now and then for no apparent reason.

Any ideas what could be up with them?

Apart from this all other fish are behaving normally and look really healthy.

Just checked my water-

Ammonia = 0
Nitrate = 10ppm
Nitrite = trace (Probably 0.05ppm)

That trace could either be a slight overstocking imbalance relative to the biomedia capacity of the filter or just an inefficiency of the filter or it could be just a passing thing. It is true that the fish nervous system is more or less the first thing affected by nitrite, so I guess its possible the nitrite is related to the darting but who knows?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
Think u guys may be right, my filter has been overloaded recently coping with a new batch of adolescent BN Plecos.
(messy little guys!)

I didn't want to sell them so soon, but if keeping them is going to effect my other fish, it's time for them to go to the LFS.
With the credit from my LFS i was able to get a small 15 gallon tank which is to become my new hospital/nursery tank.

Hopefully preventing problems in the future.

Plecc.
