Dark Substrate

Hi, I've just ordered a new tank (aquamode 600) after the glass cracked in my old orca. After the initail shock & anger at the disaster I am now looking forward to setting up something completely new.

I would really like to have a dark tank to show off a shoal of neons or rummynosed tetras and am looking for a dark or pref black substrate that is also good for plants. My LFS only stocks dayglo coloured gravel as an alternative to plain gravel.

Can anyone reccommend a good dark substrate ?

1 bag of Eco-complete would do for your tank its dark and good for plants

Or a tub of tetra plant substrate and some black gravel on top

Its like gravel mixed with finer sand looking stuff when you use it the two seperate and your left with a nice gravel bed with the finer stuff underneath. It comes in 9kg with black amazon water added.

Needs no rinseing and if your tank needs cyling the water included speeds it up as its got bacteria in. as for cleaning i dont think you do because the substrate converts fish waste into food for your plants

Its expensive at £23 a bag but worth it for the look and no hassile!
