daphnia question

i didnt know where to post this but anyways does anyone know if daphnia have to be raised in algae water? can they be raised in a tank or bucket with water in it with light 24/7 but put some sort of pellet or food to feed them rather than the algae?

Daphnia are fresh water where as brine shrimp are brackish to salt water, Also they are shaped completely differently and nutritionally daphnia are far superior.

As apose to green water you can add powdered spirulina to the water. You just have top do water changes often if you do.
