Danios Active Only When Light Is On

i added them a couple days ago as i have finished cycling they are only really active when the hood light is on and they dont really school together

1 of the 4 zebra danios that i got slipped out of the bag in the middle of acclimizing and he is by himself most of the time is that why thier not schooling?

its a 15 gallon tank with a filter, heater and the temp is around 75 F and the ph is around 7.3



Why are they not that active and why are they not schooling?

Most fish don't form a tight school in tanks; they only really do that when they feel threatened; they just form a loose group. You also need a larger shoal; the minimum number recommended is 6 or more. It's normal for them to be active only when the lights are on; they go to sleep when it's dark!

As it's a new tank, are you making sure your stats are all good and that your filter is coping? Have you checked for any ammonia or nitrites? As these could be making your fish feel sick or unhappy.

i have tested them all and all levels are good the nitrates are at 30 ppm and the rest is very close to 0

also do glofish danios school with the regular zebra danios? are they basiclly the same profile and have the same needs and wants?

If ammonia and/or nitrites are 'very close to zero', but not actually zero, I'd do a 30 or 40% water change, just to make sure they are a 'proper' zero; anything else could hurt your fish.

Glofish danios will shoal with the normal ones; they are the same species and the fish don't know they're not exactly the same!
