Hi

I have been suffering with BGA algea for a few months and need some tips on getting shut of this pesky problem. today ive removed plant leaves and toke out orniments that have this on scrubed the glass pipes and heater vacumed graved and did a 50% water change and coverd my whole tank in bin bags.

Anyone recomend what I should do after the 4 days is up? because I cant seem to keep a tank with plants for more then 2 weeks without BGA forming and slowing my plant growth! all they do after a few months is ether the leaves get smaller or they rot at the roots and float!

I use a nutrafin co2 system and seachem florish and tetra substrate.

I have turned off co2 for the blackout

so any tips?

I suffered BGA to varying degrees for about 2 years, with the worst time meaning total plant and substrate coverage 1 day after cleaning. I finally beat the algae by altering the lighting. I ended up reducing the light intensity by using only my 2 T8 tubes on most days, with the 2 T5s being used only for short periods during the week and for a whole day on the weekend. My plant growth obviously slowed right down but I was happy to trade that off against the elimination of the BGA.

You don't say what your lighting is so i can't comment.

I'm currently redoing my tank and the return of BGA is a very real and big concern!
