Hi, i have no intention of purchasing a cylinder aquarium, but am intrigued to find out whether there are any fish suitable for them. We always talk of the footprint of the tank, but a cylinder has none. So any fish fit for these? or is it cruel?

if your talking about a biorb then pass!!

1 filtration is crap
2 lighting is crap
3 stocking is limited
4 gaseous exchange isnt very good
5 no bottom feeders besides ottos
6 they look cool but arent designed for fish (more the living room!)
7 filtration is crap (did i mention that one

I think and I could be wrong that the OP is talking about those large tall cylinders, usually stand about 5ft tall or at least the ones Ive seen are.

You could only really go with small fish species, because of the lack of swimming space, most of them would more likely hang around the top area anyway, leaving the bottom pretty empty.

I saw some angels in a tall cylinder tank in one of my LFS - not sure whether they were okay or not in there, but they just need height really...

so they might be okay haha :good:
