i am taking filter media from my small 5 gal tank to my large tank so i can stop cycling. My small tank is running w/ a biowheel, does anyone have any suggestions other than just setting the biowheel in teh tank where i should place it so i can get my tank cycled quickly?

Thanks

The best way to "seed" (what your trying to do) a new tank is to take the media directly out of the old filter and put it in with the media of the new filter. If the tanks are roughly the same size, or you are going for a light stocking, then fish can be added immediatly as there is adequate bacteria to handle the bioload. If you are going from your 5G to say a 55G I would still follow cycling techniques, but hopefully your tank will fully cycle much quicker do to the jump start you gave it

sounds good, i will do that. i wanted to use my 20 gallon to cycle it, but i have been battle fin rot & columnaries for the last 3 weeks & have lost half of the tank. I finally have it under control now as I over dosed the tank, but i dont want anything in that tank near my new one for a while.
