Cycling the tank

Hi i am cycling the tank currently and i havent got the hood for it yet, and i was wondering if i should wait because i see things like cat hairs and such getting into it. Will this screw up the cycle in anyway or will my filter take care of it? Should i just wait for my hood to come in?

Don't think the odd cat hair will matter, it certainly wont mess up the cycle. If its worrying you, can you cover the tank with something else till you get your hood?
