Cycling....the Frustration Mounts!

Undoubtedly, I have no doubt that ammonia poisoning can continue causing "invisible" damage.

And I don't think fish-in is lazy, I've read how much hard work people have to put into it.

When I was cycling my apisto tank I was checking the water about 4 times a day, and doing water changes whenever anything seemed even remotely out of order. It may have helped that I relatively heavily planted my tank in the hours before adding fish and starting cycling. I don't know.
But as a result I never saw my ammonia go higher than 0.25 and that was never for a length of time longer than a few hours.

I've seen people have worse ammonia results simply from not performing weekly routine.

And that's a point I could bring up, doing a fish-in cycle can teach you about how important it is to do your weekly maintenance, more so than babysitting an empty tank.

In the end, fish in cycling is my personal preference, but I sure as hell wouldn't suggest it to some of my friends as I know they wouldn't be able to get off their bottoms to keep the fish alive. But at the same time, I wouldn't recommend these people keep fish full stop.
