so got my 7footer project a while ago, and now with a bit of harwork its now ready for water and Im gonna start cycling.
I have a brand new FX5 going in and I currently have a temporay tank in my living room (Trigon 350ltr) that has a Eheim Pro2 that I have had for a few years fully cycled that I also plan to run on the 7footer.

I am thinking about splitting the media from the pro2 and putting half the mature media in the fx5 and keeping half in the pro2 then running both straight away on the big tank. only thing is i will need to put all the fish in there as soon as i move the pro2 as its the only filter on the trigon.
I can also use most of the water out the trigon too.
what do you think? do I go for it, or just cycle the big tank with just the FX5 then move the pro2 after the fx5 is mature?

edit - just realised I poasted this in 'new to the hobby' meant to post in a different section of the forum - Oh well!

Seems like a good plan

Depending on what fish you are planning to keep you may need more filtration. I'm not sure which model of eheim you have but the FX5 gives a theoritical 2300L turnover per hour which after taking into account media is probably more like 1500-1800L per hour

Sounds ok to me too but don't forget whenever you move mature media there's a small chance it won't like the move and so it is a time to be testing and watching for mini-spikes. With well matured media like you have, its very unlikely you'd have a problem though.
