I know that i have another thread but i thought this would make it more clear.

Questions:
Can i take my filter from my cycle ten gallon put it on my new 30 Gallon for a couple of hour and have all the bacteria so i don't have to cycle my 30 Gallon?
Is there any way i can put 10 fish the thirty gallon tomorrow and not have a ammonia spike( I have been looking at Tetras Safestart)

Just putting a mature filter in a new tank for 2 hours then removing will not cycle it, the beneficial bacteria live in the filter.

You could cut the biomedia from the cycled filter in half, using one half in each tanks filter. If you do this both tanks biofiltration will be only working at half or less capacity so don't feed the fish anything for a few days. This will limit the amount of ammonia your fish produce hopefully enabling the filter bacteria to process it safely.

Test for ammonia and nitrite daily for the first week if you get high levels of either do water changes.

If you want to clone a mature filter you can either move half the filter media across permanently. Or you need to run the filter from the 10 gal at the same time as the new one in the 30 gal for several weeks, not hours. But the concept is sound. If you have mature filter media it already has the bacteria it needs to support the tank so it can be cloned to help support a new tank.
