Hi all.
As you may know I changed from Gravel to Sand about 1 week ago.I had an UGF running with power head which I removed.For about 3 months now with the old setup I have a H500 power filter and H200 Power filter that also ran on it.
So after I changed the sand the UGF was gone and I still have my 2 power filters running. ( Power filters have the bio cartridge installed still but removed the cotton one with carbon in it and replaced it fully with hard cotton I got at LFS.
Now the problem is this.
The tank seems to be doing a mini cycle all over. ( I Believe Most of the bacteria was in the substract I removed. )
Im doing about 25% water change every 2 days to cope with the Ammonia and Nitrite.
My question is with the filters.Do I keep on doing water changes and leave the current stuff in the filter and wait for it to cycle again.
If so when I clean the filter do I just wash the Cotton in tank water and put it back or do I replace it with new ones?
