Just like eating salted peanuts and drinking beer, it’s hard to stop … been a bit more than a month since my 12 gal Edge finished cycling (all the citizens appear to be fine & healthy) and now I’m sitting here looking at:

36 gal bow front
Fluval C4 filter
Fluval 300 watt heater
Coralife dual T5 light (not HO)
Two decent sized (and one small) pieces of driftwood (been soaking for 2 weeks)

Will be ordering substrate and appropriate live plants (probably varieties of “low light” tolerant anuibas, Cryptocoryne, Bolbitus, java fern, etc.)

The idea being to have a well planted but not “jungle like” tank where fry can have a chance to survive … I got a thing, from back in my childhood, for guppies & live bearers …

Brings me to two questions for you my knowledgeable on-line friends that were so helpful and tolerant as I cycled my Edge:

1) How do I handle cycling this new planted tank?
a. ? Fishless - set it up, get the plants and introduce ammonia till it cycles?
b. ? Set it up, get the plants in, let it settle for a week or so and then slowly introduce fish?
2) Eventual stocking – will these folks (in these quantities) get along?
a. 6 Guppies – 2 boys & 4 girls
b. 10 rummy nose tetras
c. 6 corys
d. ?6? Angels or Dwarf Gouramies
e. And if many fry make it to adulthood, reach for the peanuts and beer we got another tank …

Really would appreciate your feedback … thanks

You can't keep 6 angel fish in a 36 gal they'll kill each other they have no room!
