i've got a 120L tank that if i can remember took almost 5 weeks to settle to its correct water requirements

i had a 60L that took a less time to get ready (ofcourse)

but just set up new 60L as the previous one cracked, it's only been sitting for 4 days now and just as an off chance (i would'nt normally do it so early) i did a water test and to my surprise everything is good ph as should be for the guppies i have planned to put in it and nitrates almost at 0. even the usual cloudy water cleared in three hours.

never come across a tank that has adjusted itself so quickly and its somewhat baffled me

has anyone else had this happen to them before :S

anyone there- feeling lonely, heeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooo

well not exactly no my 30l took about 3 months  don't know what was wrong with it so i took all water out and restarted completely then it was ready within 3 weeks!!!

My boyfriend's 20 gallon (76L) tank took 3 days :)

its wierd i suppose it has to do with where the initial water comes from, you know, certain parts of country ect...
i've never used rain water thats been collected like some people just bog standard tap water (tap not bog    ) and never had a problem.

What have you been doing to the tank for the 4 days since you filled it ?

Have you started a cycle?

If not then you will have 0 readings, but will need to cycle the tank, either with the fishless method, or with some hardy fish

fishless cycle, sorry should have said at the startt

Don't use Guppies as first fish once the tank has cycled - they're far too fragile. Buy something more hardy and ask if you can exchange them once the tank has matured.

no offence but i have good knowledge of guppies been keeping them for years and i wasnt looking for advice on how to keep them, just had a simple question thats all

tank will accomodate black phantoms for the period required to establish it for guppies
