Hi everyone,

great news - our cutteri have spawned. I guess that's not really news as it's probably the 10th time BUT I took them out of our cichlid tanks and they are in their own tank now :) Have moved most of the tetra and corys into a spare tank in the kitchen

Previously all the little fry had been snacks for the tank mates, so decided we'd like to raise a batch at least once. They hatched at the weekend, and mum & dad are doing a lovely job of keeping them all together.

Only tank mates are 5 USDs, an L128 and one black neon that kept evading the net  little so and so... Oh and 3 amano shrimps.

Have been feeding them freeze dried brine shrimp as its the only thing I have that's tiny.

Since this is the first lot of fry I am trying to keep, what the hell do I need to do?!!

What should I be feeding, how often should I do water changes and how much? Do I need to cover the filter intake with something?

Any advice welcome, thanks :good:

Will get some pics up soon ;)

Chances are good that you could raise a few as the parents are vigourous when protecting.... You'll get away by feeding ordinary fish foods (crushed) & not go the "expensive" way of feeding frozen brine..... It is advisable that you do cover the filter inlet with cutoff silk stocking....

Thanks Ludwig,

the freeze dried brine shrimp is a pot I had anyway - you don't need to feed much even to the cichlid tank, a little goes a long way - so no worries about it being expensive :good:

Crushed flake is no problem. I just wanted to check it was nutritional enough, I keep hearing about people feeding freshly hatched brine shrimp.

Does the stocking have to be silk? I have a juwel internal filter, any ideas how I could cover the inlet properly?
