Today I bought something for cuts as my paradise fish has a small what I think must be a heater burn on his face and one on his body, they have a dark pink tinge to them and whilst they do not seem to be bothering him I bought him something to help which is all natural with tea tree oil, on the back though it states to remove carbon from the filter why is this?? I do not have another tank I could put him into unless he could go into a bowl or similar thing whilst getting treated and then taken back out again but I cannot see this helping much as he couldn't stay in there longer then an hour or so, so do I remove the carbon? Do I risk putting it in? Or do I see if it heals on its own?

Melafix? Is it not bad to remove the carbon from your filter though?

Ah! Don't use melafix with gouramis!!! The tea tree oil damages there labyrinth organ which causes them to drown!!!!! Stop medicating with that! Daily water changes, good stats, and maybe API StressCoat (for the aloe vera) will heal the cut and prevent infection
