Hello guys! :p
I was woundering about this anglefish I have named Kopix....Of course he has to be a good looking fish for me to name my screen name in his honor. He has a quarter size body. Also he is a koi angelfish with 20% orange coloring though it seems to be spreading farther and farther around his head. He has a good body on him and the only problem is his dorsal curves in at the tip. I same with his bottom fin (forgot what is was called). His bottom is not as bad as the dorsal. He is growing very fast!He eats bloodworms, krill, plankton, four diffrent kinds of color inhancing flake food, and sometimes a cricket. Of course I feed him these on diffrent days. Everyone loves variety in their diet! :) :fun:  :D He is my little bungorf! He has some nice black and gold patches on him! I have to find him a girlfriend before he tries to pair up with the silver anglefish that is also in wit him. The silver is not breeding quality because she/he has a bump on her head. Her stripes are grand and form is perfect only if it were not for that D*** bump!!!! oh well I love them both

I don't know how to attach pictures into this forum though I do have some nice ones of him. They are in a 20 but not for long I plan to move them into a 60 with alot of sword plants. They are in the 20 with a puffer(yes I no but he was so cute I had to get him), mollies and bumblebee gobies. I know a little small but like I said I am moving the angelfish out soon.

I must say that I ironically read an article in a magazine today about angelfish with curved Dorsal fins. The reason for the bent fin is most likely A: Genetics, wherein the parents passed a defect onto all or some of their fry or B: When the fish were babies, they were kept in containers too small and so this occured

Personally, i think i'd look rather cool :D, unfortunately many people call this type of angel 'not breeding quality' either.

I really hope he is a good breeding fish...After what happened to Tirpitz I was wanting something to replace his exellence.

As little as i know about genetics, i can probably say that the fin shape could be some genetic defect, or, for all I know, it could be a simple injury that healed differently. So as long as you can get him to pair up, and wouldn't mind his offspring to have the same fin ( and they may not. As i said, i know little), i can't see why he wouldn't breed! :)

Try a spawn, though wait until the second or third spawn to really judge. This means pulling & dumping the first couple of spawns. The first couple of spawns aren't that fertile, you won't get a true idea of the potential of the pair.

Hope you plan on setting up some tanks if you are successful. 200 gallons is around the minimum needed to grow a spawn to sellable size.

Angels raised in poor water will get curved fins. Some angels may have a genetic tendency for this. The only way to really now which is the cause is to breed him. The real test would be to breed him to one of his sisters.

Good luck,
