Soooo wanted to buy him, but don't have a proper place at the moment.

Anyway, it was kept with the veiltail bettas. Sorta mustard yellow with thin dark blue lining on his fins. Not the best colors, but the pattern was nice.

What's unusual is his tail--not the draping veil. A bit wider than his body, but darn near twice as long. So long it started sinking at the end--from gravity, it was in good repair. It didn't flare outward, it was just this long ribbon rounded at the end.

Wish I had my camera.

Is there a name for that? Just curious about it, because between the internet and pet shops, I've never seen it before.

By your explanation, it sounds like a super-delta or delta....

keep in mind the colors might be really dull due to the unhealthy environment

I'll take the camera when I swing by there again this evening. Soda run and a search for the floating thermometers that have appearently gone extent in this town...

Wal-mart bettas are always a bit dull, yeah. I kind of expect that. But he appeared in good health otherwise, and he was mild-mannered. I couldn't get him to flare for me so I could inspect it.

cool :good:

I meant that his colors may be much more impressive than they look in a little death cup once he was in a proper tank.

If you ever want to inspect bettas for a good candidate. watch them for a bit and see if they have any interaction to you or ur fingers. Move them around a bit in their arrangement with other cups and see if they are inquisitive or aggressive towards the change. lack of personality (no flaring or "perkiness") is not a good sign. Unless you are saving a betta, don't buy one with those signs. However, if he is really good looking and has unique finnage, may i suggest you buy him and save him? :shifty:

If you want him, you should get him. Just grab a 2 G dish, or even rubbermaid container to house him in for now. It'd be better than what he's in...and it'd be my luck that if I wanted him, I'd go in and he'd be gone-- and likely sold to some kid who's going to kill him by fighting him. :(

Oh, and he sounds like a mustard gass betta...but I'd need pics to really tell! GET HIM! :)

I do want him, but wouldn't be fair. Any other betta keeper could take care of him better than I.

I'm having a tough time right now keeping my mom's betta (Vegas) and my own (Unofficially 'Buddy' or 'Cutter' cause I think he's a tail eater) in good health. -_-

The latter is killing the boredom on his own. He's been swimming vertical laps around one of his plants. 44 that I've counted, and continuing.

I'll try and get pictures, though. See if I can't get a Floridian to adopt him. Don't trust my current conditions to keep any more. Wish I had room for a big divided tank right now.

Quick edit: I'll try for pictures soon. And if anyone likes him as much as I do, I'd feel glad to save him and trade him off at no profit. Mild-mannered and curious about fingers when I saw him.

GET HIM! :)
lol. all too familiar for a lot of us. forget going to get pics. go bring him home in a cheap container while you set up a proper home and give us some "Just got a new betta" pics :p. Ur a bad influence Constantine :p.

wait... "wanted" to buy him Deus? .... by that you mean "want (ehhem.. read need) to buy him"?

respectable. researching some more and figuring out some more info could change things tho. bettas are not hard to care for. you can even purchase artesian water if your water is bad (i have to buy quite a bit :p)

Hee. I'd really rather pass him on if I could. He had a better personality than the others (Or was new and not bored stupid yet) and was pretty, but...

I don't have any cycled tanks he could go in, I hardly have time recently, and I've got other hobbies that have sucked my budget for a long while.

A shame, really.

He could get along just fine in an uncycled tank. I do 100% water changes on my fry every other day. Bettas can manage. :)

Well, Buddy's in an uncycled 1.5 right now, and getting half-gallon to 1-gallon changes daily. I really just don't have the $30 or more for a tank with filter, substrate, and couple plants.

More worried about making the ones I have comfortable right now, and getting my 10-gal set up.

ATLAST!!! someone who also agrees with me on this issue, i water change mine every 2 days and 80% arent cycled at all.
