I'm not really into Betta's but I like the crown tail vareity. I was checking out the poor betta's in a cup at my LFS and like 50% or more were CT's is this normal? They had some really nice fish too. I saw a black and red one that was awesome.

Oh on a side note what's the smallest tank I can put one by itself in and still be humane. Like a 2g? Note nothing but he would be in there. Thanks

Hi! You can go as low as .5, but it isn't really suggested. Your betta will be more than happy in a 2 gallon by himself. In fact, he will think he is in fishie paradise. Give him a few plants and a cave, and he'll believe he is king of the world :)

Good luck! I hope you pick a betta that you'll really enjoy having. (And if he gets unhappy, stick a mirror near his bowl so he can flirt with himself ;) )

I think 2 gallons would be nice but they can live in 1 gallons.

Are you sure they are all ct's? Sometimes they just have really ripped up tails that resemble ct's.

If you can, get the black and red one!!! I think you would really like bettas. But be careful, they are addicting! :S

I have about half my bettas in 1 gals and they are very active and healthy. I hope you pick a good one...I'm jealous!

Ok... sorrell...

Have you SEEN the betta in your avatar? People should be jealous of you!!!!

I'm pretty sure. They have the sorta web finger look right? It's a little hard because they are in the cups so don't really flare so I can get a good look. You are right though now that I have started looking at them in the store they seem alot more interesting. I think I literally looked at everyone out of like 30. If I get him I'll take a pic. Also on the cave can you use the small flower pots for a cave for them or do you need something larger?

Thanks for all the quick replys. I have another question though. Do you have to cycle a betta tank like a normal tank?

dont think you really need a cave but you can use a flower pot if you wash it very well.

What i do, and since you have other tanks you can too, is I take gravel from my other tanks to use in the betta tanks, then I fill with dechlorinated water and call it good. That way, you kind of get a head start by bring in a little bacteria from your established tanks. With how often you do water changes on a betta tank, you can pretty much stay in control as it cycles. :)

How often should I do a water change? I bought him

I also bought a 2g with an UGF and a 25w heater. Do I need the heater? I guess I should just ask for a nice link on bettas.

I'll post pics of him soon.
