Got my first crystal reds and so far so good. They are not high grade or anything but at least 4 of them have good solid colour and they are active and happy. I have them in my old shrimpytown tank with quite a simple setup. For plants I have some java and xmas moss, a moss ball, some floating stuff and that bushy job that grows like crazy (anyone ID for me?). Tankmates are 10 pygmy corydoras and 5 juvie apple snails of various colours (also a load of trumpet snails). I also have some dead oak leaves in there too as apparently it keeps the ph where they like it and as the leaves break down they create all sorts of goodies for the shrimp to feed on. Plus they look kinda cool in there, very natural.

They are looking good... I think i prefer them with the plain stripes than with the "tigers tooth" markings mine had between the 2nd and 3rd stripes. I hope your ready for the influx of PM's asking if you have any for sale that i got when i posted my pics :p

I'm going to be setting up my CRS tank again soon... All the CRS pics i keep seeing on here have persuaded me it time to give it another go

Very nice. Id like to keep some cherry shrimp but I fear they would be eaten. I think the plant is Ceratophyllum demersum- hornwort.

Oops I hope I didnt contribute to those pm's (I think I just hassled you in your picture threads  ).

Yep I prefer the solid striped ones too, gonna give the shop I got them a phone tomorrow and see if they have anymore in.

looking at these shrimp tanks i think i might start one up in the future as they do look good
yours is excellent mate

Shrimpytown looks excellent, the oak leaf is a good addition it looks nice and it seems from my tank that the shrimplet survival rate is higher with some leaf litter. The corys small as they are would eat many of the shrimplets though, dont you think?

The Corys in my community tank haven't made a dent in the speed my cherry shrimp have bred... I know CRS aren't as prolific as cherrys but i think it he should be ok.

Yeh the corys are there temporarily until they bulk up a little and can go into the big shrimp tank. None of the CRS are berried yet so I should be ok for the time being.

Very nice m8, not long bought 6 Crystals myself an put in with my (what seems like hundreds now) of Cherries. My Crystals have berried already so shouldnt be long now before there are tons of them too.

That leaf litter is very nice btw, may try that myself, where did u get the leaves from?
