Have you cycled your tank? Are you aware of the Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle? If not, please read under Beginners Starting Point in Index and Cycling Your Tank.
Now, a fancy goldfish needs 20 gallons of water for the first one and 10G for each additional. So you need at least a 30 gallon tank but I would go with at least a 40G. Once you get your tank cycled properly and the correct size tank, your water issue should clear up. Charcoal is only a temporary fix to a bigger problem. You need to fix the larger issue. Most of us do not use or recommend charcoal except when clearing medication out of a tank. We’re here to help you. Feel free to ask questions. By the way, I’m a goldfish lover too and use to breed them. :) Note: Below is information that I was referring to about cycling your tank. Please read it through.

Thx you so so much, Senior. I will

If your water is changing colour, do big daily water changes to clear it up.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

You can buy bulk bags of carbon from Ebay, or do a Google search for carbon in your area.

@Colin_T, I’m surprised at your answer. You’ve never been an advocate for carbon before. Is there something new we need to know or are you just be grumpy today? :)

I'm in a foul mood and have been for weeks.

I'm suggesting water changes and then if they want bulk bags of carbon to look on fleabay

I wish we could cheer you up. I watched a movie and thought of you. It was about a girl who broke her back and a bird inspired her to move on and not stay in depression. It was an Aussie film. True story.
