hi guys, as some of you know i have had my cutteri for a while now with the intention of breeding them, i changed substrates, sold snakeheads, did loads to try and encourage them to breed with not much luck. so i sold their tank, and put them into another with loads of other fish with the intention of selling them on, no one wanted them so they just stayed there, well this morning the little sods have gone and layed eggs! and are defending them like its a million pounds!

well, what can i do, if i remove the eggs they will die as they won't get looked after, if i let tem hatch they might die before i see them.
i know someone else on here has bred them but i forgot who now, if anyone can help me, will the parents defend them well once they hatch, if they will be ok until they are free swimming i can then remove them and put them into a small tank of their own.
if and when they hatch, what should i feed them, i only have like frozen foods in my house like bloodworm, tubifex, lancefish, cockles and prawns, also i have cichlid pellets and catfish pellets. could i crush cichlid pellets, like almost to powder and drop it where they are? or any other suggestions?
i may be jumping the gun as if they hatch it would be the first time, they have layed before but all the eggs disappeared, but i think that was the red tailed botias in the other tank.

just some ideas or suggestions please, and maybe some info from someone who has bred them before!!

cheers, Dave

Congrats! Ive not bred Cutteri before but I would assume that since they are Cryptoheros that they will look after the fry when they hatch.

well i hope so, just went to feed them and all the fish attacked and ate half of the eggs! i removed the stones with the remaining eggs on, put a divider in and put them back with the 2 parents.
hopefully they will look after the remainders, if not i hope they lay again soon but now they have been stressed im not too confident. im peed off, but all i did was put a cube of bloodworm in! hope they will be ok now!
just a few pics i got before i fed them! don't mnd the glass, this tank is upstairs and so i never really clean the outside of it!

if they eat or leave the remaining eggs i will be well annoyed after waiting this long for them, i should have been more prepared but i more or less gave up on them breeding!

DAVE

the male keeps trying to eat the remaining eggs and the female chases him, and the female has gone really aggressive, is this normal after being disturbed to this extent?
do you think now that they have layed in this tank they will soon do it again once they are settled??

and information appreciated!!!!

maybe put the male on the other side of the partition?
