This was a wasted purchase, I am afraid. It won't fill in as a carpet, grows very slowly, and is vulnerable to algae because of that, yet it requires higher light than other crypts. As a midground option, it's too small. I won't be using this plant again, but I was wondering what others' experiences were with it. I imagine it would look good in the midground of a nano tank that has baby tears as a foregroundlawn , but I have seen picture of downoi as the midground with the tears, and that combo is pure perfection. As bad a choice as the parva was for me, my dwarf saggitaria is growing as a great midground plant, bringing the whole tank togther. I went with glosso on one side and microsword on the other. But, on the micorsword side, the dwarf sag is multiplying towards the front of the tank. I have been planting the babies in midground areas all over the 55g tank. Once I resolve my lighting/algae problem, and my 3 plant levels (fore, mid, back) reach maximum fullness (they are almost there!), this tank will look awesome. What a long strange trip it has been with this tank...

You might as well be angry at the sun for shining too brightly.
Generally no, it doesn't form a "carpet"(like hairgrass or glosso), however it isn't a plant renowned for doing that either.
Wont get algae if the balance of everything is right despite slow growers being labelled as "susceptible to algae"...

yet it requires higher light than other crypts.
Bit ambiguous and broad, with the right amount of CO2 and nutrients it would thrive in lighting conditions suitable for most crypts.

LOL...well, it grows much slower than other Crypts I have had. And, I have read multiple sources that say it has higher light requirements than other crypts. I just don't like the plant, so I was relaying my opinion. I think it would be better for nano setups.

Plants I will likely never purchase again:

1. Anacharis = Ugliest plant I have kept.Good as a food source for herbivorous fish. I'd throw it in a pond.

2. Hornwort = Just grows too fast, good for new tanks/suppressing algae. I'd throw it in a pond.

3. Riccia = Pain in the neck unless special attachment techniques, which I am not skilled enough to possess, are used. I have seen it used as a foreground with runners of hair grass holding it down (by Amano I believe).

4. Cryptocorn Parva = Small, slow growing, and not much like other crypts in general and IMO.
