Hi there, this is my first post and im new to the fish keeping business, im after some help from the people in the know, Iv just purchased a new juwel rekord 96 and in the process of setting it up, for my substrate iv got coral sand but after reading various opinions on this im now confused and dont want to fill my tank with water incase this has been a mistake, It says it makes the water harder and the PH high, should i remove this while i still have the chance and opt for normal sand or will this be ok for a community tank for tropical fish.
please help
cheers guys

It depends solely on the type of fish you wish to keep. Most community tropical fish wont mind a little extra ph but this if you already have high ph tap water then you might wanna go with another type of substrate.

we dont seem to have a problem with the PH in our tap water I think its prob about normal, Iv got a really small tank at the min just a 30ltr biorb and i want to transfer my fish to the new tank iv got,10 x tetra's,1 x betta, 2 x blue ram, 2 x cory, do you think these will be ok, does this coral sand have to be changed every so many years, if so I think this stuff although it looks nice might be a pain in the butt lol
thank you
