Well, I was going to post a picture of my Betta fish, who is a Crowntail Betta that I named
Pachinko. He has a really beautiful body, that has blue, purple, and green scales, and every time he swims it looks like he's changing colors in the light, his fins and tail blend out into a fire engine red, and he has a yellow head, he's beautiful. Sadly, recently while I was at school, one of my cats got into my room, was able to open my tank, and completely scratched him up, his tail is all ripped and almost all of his scales were torn off :'( though he is still alive! I've put him into a separated tank for him to get stronger and recover, and I was wondering, will his scales grow back? I love him so much and he is the most beautiful Betta ive ever owned and I was just about to breed him with my friend's female, (who has a pure white body and pink blending to red fins and tail, with pink/red spots all over her body) and now he's so weak idk if he will make it, I'll try to upload a picture soon :(

:T he likes cold water for some reason, he never liked warmer water, if I put him in a little warm water he would freak out and spazz and swim all over his little tank, but once I put a little more cold water in there, he becomes content, swims around nice and slowly, sleeps on his leaf bed and is just so relaxed, but what's the normal temp for a Betta? He likes cold water :T

Normal temperature for bettas is around 27-28 degrees, they are actually warmer water fish on the higher end of tropical, what temperature is he in now? do you have a thermometer? if you do sudden temperature changes by adding hotter/cooler water that can stress him out making him swim everywhere, you need to match the temperature first, sorry to hear about the cat incident and yes scales do grow back, I hope he recovers for you.

just warm up the tank with an aquarium heater, and do daily or every other day water changes of 25 - 50% and his scales and fins should grow back shortly, but if you leave him in cold water it will take a longer time for him to heal, he probably spazzed out because they are tropical fish and are more active in there natural temperature, and when the water is cold then he will become lethargic :good:

:) thanks! I hope he gets better soon, he's gonna be a daddy when he recovers!
