While I know that 55 gallons + is recomended for any cichlid really, I have a 20 that is down to what I believe is a male melachromis baliodigma and a female mel. joanjohnsonae. My Demasoni, the fish that I was actually after and was thinking of putting in my tank alone, was harrassed into being unable to eat. (I think.) :dunno:

Regaurdless, these two have actually started to swim together and play with nearly literally NO agression. I read on another sight that the joan's are able to easily crossbread. My question are as follows, could they be a breading pair now, does it sound like it? And if they are a pair and start to breed will they be at least somewhat ok together still?Right now they are EXTREMELY cute and can go so far as to steal food from each other and not get a bit peeved. (Something I have never experienced with any of my cichlids.)

I know that my demasoni would have been a terrible partner because they often beat up on their mates, thus needing a harum to distract their agression. Are all mbuna this way?
