I just got a trio of croakers a few weeks ago and going to put them in a different tank. These babies don't stand a chance in this tank with the other fish. I would assume they just hatched, and can't be moved? :dunno: I did a 30% H2O change about 36 hours ago.

wow! Those are so tiny! Good luck with them.

Cuties!

Can you put some kind of net around them and the daddy until they are free swimming? Then maybe you can scoop em into a cup and move them. :dunno:

I'd use Either a large nat or a breeding trap to put around them. Great Pic!

Amazing photos! I'm astounded. The male in your photo looks JUST like my male Croaking Gourami.

You happen to have a photo of your female(s)? I'm curious....

Anyway, if they're like Betta fry, then moving them at this point would mean their sure death...either by the change in water, or their nervous dad eating them. The dad will guard the nest, though, so it's possible SOME will survive.

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. :D

When I looked this morning, the nest was empty, but undisturbed. The fry moved a few inches and are underneath a couple plant leaves. They are TINY! Like the size of little gnats.

I don't think a breeding net will reach them, and they would swim right through the plastic trap. Right now the male is attacking anything that swims near them. I will float a clump of java moss near them.

Kiarra - I will try to take pics of all 3 when I get home from work this morning. I think I have 2F/1M, but I'm not sure.

Are you prepped to feed them when they're free-swimming? They look to be the same size as Betta fry, so if you have microworms or baby brine shrimp on hand they should be able to eat it.

Can't wait for the pictures of the other two. :)

Thanks Tara. :D

The female is guarding the bottom of the tank, below the babies. I watched her attack a full grown Keyhole cichlid. The male will tolerate her to an extent, but will chase her away if she gets too close to the fry.

Kiarra - I don't have any live food for them, I'm not sure if any LFS sell anything small enough. I was planning on getting some frozen BBS at Petsmart before work.

Upon further review, I think I have 2M/1F. I couldn't get a good pic of the 3rd croaker, but the more I look, it seems more male. Here's a blurry pic, and a pic where you can't see his finnage:

Here's the female, I just noticed here tail is torn:

I couldn't get the male without flash because the sword leaves were blocking the light:

Here's the male (top) "dancing" with the female:

And finally, here's the female chasing away the 3rd croaker:

I'll try to get pics better pics of the 3rd croaker in a couple days.
