NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL TEAM WORK:

I think Amano Shrimp may become my new best friend!
 That's brilliant ! :good: So are those the Amano's on the wood ? I absolutely love Amano's too and can't stop raving about them (as I did in this thread) and so many others !

I'd be interested to know how well all the different shrimp get along. My Amano's were quite "shy" to start off with, but boy have they turned into cheeky sods now ! And watch out - they will steal flakes, pellets or wafers and "run off" with it - right from under your fishes’ noses  and treasure their little finds for ages.

I'm dying to see some pics of the Red Noses though :D

Mate, for every picture i post, i must seriously have around 20-30 that go in the trash can! Even then i think my photography is poor, i need a tripod and some camera tips! Especially with the whole tank shots, not happy with any yet!

I had an absolute picture before!! I had 4 of my 5 amanos, 3 red long nose and a cherry red ALL on that same piece of wood above. Ran to get my camera but they had ALL moved! Grrrr :(

Yea luke i had 4 ..now 3 :( Just taken it out the tank...100% gone.

Havent a clue...one minute i was taking pics of it and the next it just jumped of the bogwood and floated to the bottom !!

I`m about to put pics up!

Chris

Well lets celebrate the loss in style! I`m not just saying it, this is actually a piccy of the shrimp that just died and is certainly the best of the lot!!

Also, a great picture (if i do say so myself, for once!!) of an amano:

and finally...sorry if i am boaring you with all the pictures of non-plants lol, this is the planted tank page after all

A mts, but a nice green shelled one. I`ll take a picture of a better condition one if i can find one some time. But you can see how it has a lovely brown striped top shell and a glossy green center. Other mts in the tank are much more vivid green and glossy! Also as you can see, she is carrying a baby mts :D :hyper: Now i just hope my tank doesnt get full of them...if you notice, she is already digging next to my HC and glosso !!!! :sly:

Enjoy....sorry i`ll get back onto the planted aspect of the tank now...i`m just enjoying the shrimps lol....:D

Those long nose shrimp are truely amazing, very unusal! RIP little shrimpy..
Do you have MTS by accident, or did you introduce them you're self? Have they multiplied much since you've had them?

I introduced them luke. Well i wasn’t sure if they were multiplying, but after seeing 3 little baby mts tonight then i can safely say they are.

This sounds sad, but i`m going to try and take out the nicest prettiest green and glossy ones and get them breading in a small tank of their own. They really are much nicer than the normal old black/brown dirty looking mts!! the one in the picture above is not a particularly great specimen!

Chris

Nice shrimp, a bit weird but still quite cool. BTW if that is HC in that pic, which I think it is, you've planted it properly, it'll do fine like that and soon carpet.

Sam

I'm sooooo getting those Red Nosed Shrimp ! :D (or rather you for me). They are just toooo cute  But sorry to hear the little fella keeled over :/ Unexplained losses do and can occur more so shortly after putting them into a new tank. Hence the reason I want at least 8.

:kewlpics:

Lets clarify this before i go....you want 8 ? and did u ring them up and check again because i dont want you to think i`m making money from this....i paid £5.95 for 2 .... so u will end up paying £23.80 for 8 !! Then postage...which we havent talked about!!!! what sort of delivery do you want?
Chris

 We can talk tomorrow (sorry don't want to hijack your thread), but yes - 8 ;) Might as well - in for a penny, in for a pound (or two or twenty :fun: )

Nice Long Nose or Rudolph Red-Nosed Shrimp they are a great shrimp, one of the few true swimming shrimp.
As with all shrimp they have a high casualty rate. With my cherry shrimp i introduced 10 but within a few weeks was down to 4 or 5 .
As to your algae on the logs i wouldn't worry about it. Only way i got mine clean was the introduction of my bristle nose. Then only by holding back on the feed.
Tank is looking great by the way.

Sounds a really daft comment, but it only came to me this morning. I`ve had my tank 8 weeks now and all my cardinal tetras seem ok! I was worried, since i`ve been told a few times not to cycle with cardinals (after i got them of course: badly advised by LFS when i was a complete nooby!)

I put it down to having such a heavily planted tank, nitrates and ites and ammonia have never been above 0 ! (except now when i`m doing NO3 using IE)

Pretty amazing...touch wood!
