My son brought home a crayfish. He would like to put in my 100 gallon tank. This tank is a south american ,central american tank. The fish are 2 convict, 1 red head cichlid, 2 silver dollars. 2 redhooks and a sailfin plec. What do you think? Will crayfish try to eat any of these guys? Fish too big to be eatin , but will the crayfish do harm. Would these fish kill the crayfish? Crayfish @ 3-4 inches, All fish 5-6 inches and up.

How will crayfish do in 76-78 degree water? Thanks for any info.

First of all, he will eat the fish...if he catches them.
crayfish are a scavenger and will eat anything they can get at, including plants, fish, waste etc etc.

I currently have several mollies, guppies and platies housed with my electric blue crayfish for around 3 months and he has yet to catch any of them, let alone do them any harm.

they will do well in a tank that has a temp around 72-76 degrees.

they need alot of airation.

Thanks for the info. Seems pretty safe to put him in then. Cichlids pretty fast , could easily catch mollies guppies and platies.

I hope you are aware that livebaearers are SURFACE dwellers, cichlids are not, and they often sleep on the bottom of the tank at night, when crayfish hunt. I wouldn't try it -_-
