I really want a crayfish but they are very hard to have in a tank with others because they are good predators. What if i put it in a tank with a bala shark. The shark is too big for the crayfish and the crayfish is too big for the shark. Would this work?

Most likely the crawfish would attack the bala at night when its sleeping. Also balas are schooling fish, that get large and need huge tanks.

it might because the bala is fast, but i have seen cray fish clomb plants to nab fish, and i had one that ate a 4 inch pleco. you could try it, as long as you keep him well fed and give him enough hiding places you might be able to get away with it.

Haha, I may be a Californian, but I was raised by people from the south. So I usually use crawfish, craw daddy.... There really aren't any fish that would do well long term. Either the fish will get eaten or the crawfish. What size tank are you thinking of using? You could possibly do multiple crawfish.

Balas would get way to large for a 29 gallon. They are territorial but with plenty of rocks and wood, you should be able to keep a few, say 3 or 4.

Balas eventually need a tank around 5-6+ in length. Although they are slow growers from what iv seen with my friends balas. He has 5 in a 6x2x2. He is lookin to rehome his when they get bigger

as long as the crayfish has enough hiding places and is kept well fed, try any fish that is fast or stays at the top of the water colum. gouramis are nice, i kept them in my 29 gallon. you could try angels too, they are agressive enough that they might fight the cray off his he trys to pull somthing. the other thing you could try is a school of tetras or somthing that is too fast for the cray to catch. (not that he might not find a a way)
