The 55g I bought used has a crack in the bottom plastic piece that holds the glass together, is that going to matter? Or should I try to fix it some how. Maybe silicone it? Thanks Megan

?? Anyone had this problem? Or know what to do to fix it?? I would like to have this tank set up by the end of the week!! Thanks

I'm not sure of your problem. The glass or plastic that is broken? How would the plastic hold the glass together?

I doubt very much if the plastic actually holds the glass together; it's most likely either just cosmetic or part of a 'floating base' that holds the glass up so it doesn't need polystyrene underneath it.

You should be fine to silicone it in place, but I'd fill the tank up outside the first time, just in case.

ya I believe it would be the floating base. But Im in the process of resealing it right now, and happen to notice the cracked plastic. So it will deff be tested before I set it up! Could I just tank it off completly? and put foam under the tanks?

Yes, you can; it would invalidate any maker's guarantee, but as it's second-hand that's not really going to apply anyway!
