these are amazing little critters..id have them myself but i cant see them getting along with my frogs ^^
 
I had some of these 1 died :( and the other 1 escaped!!!Im being serious i took the hood off the tank and it sissappeared a few days later i found it dead under my bed! :sick:
 
wow, nice crab, what do you feed him?

and arent you scared that he may escape? cuz i see him on the tubing lol

Wow you are one of the lucky ones, they dont tend to live long in normal communitys, especially with softwater fish.
 
As with a lot of inverts, these guys tend to suffer from bacterial infections as the tank temp rises. its interesting seeing them in with discus though. it harks back to another thread running atm, "there are no hard and fast rules in fishkeeping"!! well done guy, its good to see these critters so healthy and happy after so long!
 
thanks for the nice replys, my lid is very secure no chance of him escapeing...

he eats anything it seems espically loves carrots??????

and never attacks the fish....

lol its not so odd that the crab eats carrot, they are omnivores, and opportunist feeders. they would however normally eat veg as the main part of their diet. and as they age they seem to go more for veg, and less and less for meat! my guess would be that as the need to grow, lessens with age. they move away from protein.

as for attacking fish! they will defend themselves against all comers, but despite their looks they are not the killing machines people seem to think, quit the opposite actually!
