Firstly, I have hair algae on my Vallis. What's the best way to get rid of it. Can I gently scrape it off, or am I best to just get some new vallis? (It's a lot of Vallis as well!)

Secondly, my Swords aren't doing well at all. Which I can't understand why. Everything else in my tank is doing fine. They've been submerged for about 7 - 8 weeks now. I'm dosing with Easycarbo once a day (10ml in a 85 gal tank), and dose API Leaf Zone twice a week. Could it just be they were bad plants to start with? I've got 4 x 39w T5 bulbs over the tank.

Thanks :)

Looks to me like you need to start dosing macro nutrients (Nitrogen, Phosporus, Potassium). Too much light over the tank to be just dosing easycarbo and API, IMO. Now, are you married to your lighting?

nope, its on for 6 hours a day at the moment.

ive just got myself some nutrients for EI dosing...i just need to look into where to go with them.

are the plants saveable?

They're savable, just strip off the bad bits once new good leaves have grown through. :)

If I meant duration (photoperiod) I would have said you have your lights on too long. I said you have too much light. That implies intensity. Not duration.

Ah I see.

What if I cut the light down in half? Or run half the lights on for x amount of time then the other half for the remainder?
