hey guys, had my tank going for several months now but theres a few things ive been curious about...

1. i read that quartz is ok for fish tank use so im assuming crushed quartz would be safe for use in a fish tank? i ask as my bro had 2kgs left after doing his garden and thought some pure white stones would look good in my tank :hyper:

2. secondly when i first got my tank i bought 3 "feeder" fish with no intention of using them as food haha 2 have since been eaten by the goldfish i had, but offloaded when i decided to go tropical, i have one left but im trying to work out what breed it is exactly... i dont have a photo but to describe it - its a bit smaller than my guppies just a bit bigger than a tetra i spose, yellow body with a black dot near the tail with red fins, all ive been told is that theyre tropical fish...

is it a lemon barb or a rosy barb?

dunno about the quartz, but there's a pinned topic somewhere with details of what rocks are and aren't safe to use in the aquarium, have a hunt and it may be in there/

Quartz is fine in a tank but the crushed quartz (jagged edges) could be an issue for bottom feeders like corys.

yeah it looks like they may be rosy barbs going by what i saw on google image search... heres a pic not the best pic and doesnt quite show its color but it gives a rough idea

yeah miss wiggle was right, went to a pet store today and they had the same fish i bought as a feeder fish labelled as small rosy barbs, so geussing its gonna get a fair bit bigger going by how big the rosy barbs they had in a seperate tank that were well a fair bit bigger :p thanks for the help in helping me find out what the fish is... now all i need to work out is how much bigger its gonna get haha
