Quick couple of queries:

1. Can I cut the rigid bit of the intake pipe (the bit which attaches to the hose and goes in the tank) to shorten it so I can lift the intake further from the substrate? (as it is a sand substrate my filter is clogging fairly regularly.)

2. After cleaning the filter (well rinsing the pads in the water in the filter then emptying the water out and reassembling the filter) when I turn the filter on I end up with a cloud of bits being blown into the tank which take a while to vanish - suspect they're not bad for the fish though as they go into a feeding frenzy ;) - any idea what's causing this?

1 yes ( you can pull the end off the solid tube)
2 dont know whats causing it never seen it with my 205

Thanks, suspect its some junk it is slurping up (actually they looked like daphnia I fed yesterday (live))

you get a thick bio film form in the pipes... this gets dislogged when you clean the filter due to the changes in the current in the pipes...

It's un sightly but not harmful ;)

Ahhh..... welll glad its not harmful as my idiots go wild for it :)

How far off the base of the tank should I have the filter inlet?

(Substrate is 75% sand, 25% tetrapak plant substrate)
