Don't see why not :) iv for roughly the same tank and just changed my stock... Yet again. Got 1 tiger Oscar, breeding pair of jd's, breeding pair of juwels and a green severum. All are roughly same size. Biggest being around 3 inches. Wanted to put my 3 inch Texas in as well but he's too aggressive :(

If the tank in question is a juwel rio 400 then I have exactly the same tank with a fluval fx5 external filter. Had it second hand for £200. Tank, stand, filter, sand, bogwood and 2 300 watt heaters :)

And just so you know the dimensions are 151x51x66cm :)

If you're getting a breeding pair of JDs, it'd be best to leave the odd JD out, or else it'll get murdered if the two want to breed.

Honestly, I'd just get 1 oscar, 1 JD, 1 Green Terror, and leave some space for some other cichlid of similar size and temperament that may pop out eventually.

You could also add some silver dollars, and some large catfish for the bottom floor.

So would this be ok
1 oscar
1 jd
3 convicts. ( i already have these)
And 4 silver dollars O
If possible more dollars and maybe 1 fire mouth
Or is this overstocked

Iv only just got them today so no fry but hopefully 1 day. As stated I wouldn't get 3 jds I your going to get a breeding pair as 1 will more than likely be picked on. Iv always wanted jds. I think they are gorgeous fish, some may disagree but everyone had their own opinions :) I have a orange spotted plec with mine that has always kept the tank very clean. He will only get to around 5 inches or so. A friend of mine also had the same tank but with a different filter ( these seem to be very popular ) and he has a breeding pair of green terrors, a breeding pair of convicts, 1 jack Dempsey, a common plec and a red Oscar. They are all bigger than mine as he has had them all over 2 years. The tank looks awesome so I hope I can get mine as good :) gd luck with the jacks if you get them

Go for a breeding pair of jacks. You'll regret it if you don't :)

As long as the convicts don't fight, it should be fine. What are the genders? I can honestly see a full grown oscar trying to eat a female convict, as they only get 4 inches long.

Silver dollars are schooling fish, in a tank your size you could get about 8.

I'd avoid the firemouth, they can be aggressive, but they also can't actually fight well, they use a bluffing tactic to scar other fish away, but if a JD or oscar were to lock lips with the firemouth, due to FM's having a weak jaw, it may lead to the firemouths jaw being popped and displaced, which can cause permanent disability and death.

Try for something like this:
1 oscar
1 JD
Male convicts
6 silver dollars
6 Pictus catfish

And you'd possibly still have a bit of room for other things in this stocking

Make sure you all get them as juveniles and add them all at the same time, and may I remind you that oscars pick their tank mates, not us  stocking around an oscar is kinda taking a gander, they're all different in personality.

EDIT: Typed pengasius instead of pictus catfish, I meant pictus. 6 pengasius catfish would be a nightmare

pictus catfish get 6-8 inches long, sometimes larger. I'm not sure how fast they grow, but try to get them at a biggish size if you can, just to be on the safe side.
