help me select the best cichlid that i could keep with 2 dojo loaches 5 tiger barbs 5 clown loaches in a 55 gallon tank?

Preferably something small enough i could get a pair or more...

Pelivcachromis subocellatus (the ones from Moanda are nice) or P. pulcher (the common kribensis). A pr of either of these fish should be fine in that tank. The clown loaches might need more room in a few years time when they get bigger.

Thanks! yea right now im still in with my parents, by the time they need more room ill hopefully be in my own house with a much larger tank

also where should i get the fish since my LFS doesn't sell them...?

I would agree with colin T. kribs are awesome and are tough enough to withstand a fair bit of bullying

German Blues are difficult to keep. You really do need perfect water.


It's possible that your LFS doesn't sell them because they won't survive in the water in your area.

2prs of small peaceful cichlids could live in a 55gallon tank.

Ask your LFS to order some fish in for you. If they won't do that then find another petshop. Any half decent shop will do customer orders and get unusual stuff in. You might have to pay a deposit but they should be willing to get stuff in for you if you ask nicely

This could be true...i saw they were hard to breed, didnt know it was the same to keep, i'll save them for later lol

one worker at my LFS said he could do orders, but he also implied he didnt have alot available through the order form...I'll go in and talk to him again. Thanks...

Also thanks Nick, ill look into those as well, but would i be able to keep 4 with my current stock?
