Well, alot of my fish seem to keep dying.

The only filter I have going is an undergravel filter that was recommended to me by all the people in the LFS because thats what they run their tanks on.

It does keep the water clear, no doubt about that, but my question is, do you think I need some other type of filter to keep the water better as well?

My water levels are all normal, but the fish just keep dying. Some have dyed of fungus, and it has been treated, but then yesterday a albino cory and my female blue ram just died, no sign of disease.

Every week I have a death or too.

So what do you guys think? Should I add some other type of filter to my tank as well? Its really getting beyond a joke all these fish deaths, and I am starting to feel really bad myself because I dont know if its something I am doing wrong or if its dodgy fish?

Thanks

Rhiannon

Need to look at the size of the tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Buy an internal filter, once the filter sponges has matured you can always remove the undergravel filter.

Stats would be good, and how many fish are in the tank.

All filters work well, as long as you keep up with the maintenance.

How often do you do water changes?

How often do you do gravel vacs?

How long have you had the tank running?

Water changes every week right on time.

Gravel vacs - every 2 weeks, but do a little bit every 1 week.

Tank been running since a week before xmas. This could also be my problem..

Amount of fish in my tank - 2 guppies, 1 baby guppy (born NYE), 1 ram and 1 albino cory.

i think with UGF you have to give the tank bottom a really good clean every so often because the gravel is the filter, the waste being drawn through it so it stays in the tank. if you have got uplifting tubes (where the bubbles come out) could you push siphoning tube down there and see if the water is black

Didnt know you could stick the tube down the tubes, so I will defintily be doing this.

If it is black, what do I do??
