Im thinking of knocking the broken glass out and filling it with silicone will this work ?

Is that the bottom edge?  If it is just a cosmetic chip, you could always cover it.  I have a tank that had cosmetic chips on the edge and I bought a black trim from homebase (I think it was in the flooring department or some such) and used aquarium sealant to stick it to the sides.

Looks like the bottom interior. Would knocking out the broken glass damage more glass or is it already loose? If it is loose, I would remove it and reseal it.

Yes it is lose but has soon has i removed the broken glass i noticed there was a tiny hole. I am guessing if i reseal it then there would not be more pressure on it than there is around the tank ?
