Hi, you may remember my HM "Snowball" who arrived with a mark that ended up being a tumor. I put a cheesecloth (washed out in tank water first) inside a sponge in his filter to slow the current down because I saw his fins get caught in one of the vents to my horror! I'm sure it's not the first time. So, within 24 hours of putting in the cheeescloth, my active, piggy betta is lying on his side on the bottom of the tank, with no interest in moving or eating. He could be constipated from the couple bloodworms I gave him that morning. I gravel vac his tank once a week - 35% water change. He is in a 5 gal heated/filtered tank alone.

I started him on coppersafe and Maracyn immediately--afraid to wait --this happned at midnight of course. Also did water change and removed cheesecloth. Any ideas? Ammonia is 0, nitrate 0.

Was the cheesecloth ever washed with any cleaning products? Soap, etc? That's all I can think of....maybe someone else would know...

Hi, cool name Ravenwing: no, I purchased it in a material/craft store--I rinsed it in tank water.
