After a bit of re-arranging I have a 25l tank with 7 endlers (female) and a harliquin rasbora. I can move the harliquin to the 60l if I need to. The endlers happily lived in the 30l with my betta, so aren't nippy. If the betta is too agressive I'll put the endlers in another tank.

Thanks, Jonty

I have 10 male endlers in a 25l and that's at pretty much full stocking. Females are much larger so to add a betta too might be pushing it?
I agree, the harlequin would be much happier in a shoal :good:

Unfortunately I haven't had much luck with a harlequins - about 7 have died over a few months whereas most a my fish stay relatively healthy, so I'm not buying any more. He seems to like shoaling with the endlers though :)

I have 20 Harlequins and they have never given any trouble to the Betta in with them, in fact they move out of his way when he goes near them

Please excuse me if I misread or misunderstood but are you saying female endlers are much larger than males?
I've never come across that, all the females I've seen are about 2/3 the size of the males if that (and colourless/browny/silver).

I think females generally get bigger, maybe due to the fact they are constantly pregnant... oh well. The 6 fry are about 2cm, and the mum is 3cm.

Sorry you haven't had success with the Raspboras. I have another species of schooling fish and the same happened to me. . .all have died except one. Now he's alone (pygmy cory).

Yes, when I saw them at LFS, they were like this

Oh, endlers are SO cute. Are they generally used as feeder fish or is it easy to come by healthier stock?

I've never seen them as a feeder fish. You can come across good stock, but they're generally a guppy/endler cross like in the pic.

I think thats a male fry (maybe a few months old) next to an adult female.

Okay, thanks. I'll hunt around and see what I can find. The LFS I generally shop at has only fancy guppies and then in another part of the aquarium section, small feeders (I've never looked up close at them because it's kind of scary how they're packed in a huge tank along side the goldfish feeders).

Will an endler breed with a fancy guppy female?

The endlers are both adults in the picture. I have endlers by the hundreds in my tanks. They are happy healthy fish and, in the case of mine, are not crossed to guppies at all. When you see endler / guppy hybrids, they often have oversized males that are as big as the females. You can even end up with colored fins in a female hybrid, picking up the colored fin genetics because of the cross. As someone has already said, a female endler is absolutely a plain fish with no fin colors. I have never seen any endlers in a store except when I sold them to the store from my own stock.

i saw female feeder fish at my LFS witcvh where guppys with NO Couler what so ever

Do you think these are ACTULY female elders ( or how ever its spelt excuse my writing :( )
